About the role

The Safety and Incident Management Service (SIMS) team plays a vital role in keeping Fiona Stanley Hospital safe by responding swiftly and professionally to safety, security, and emergency incidents. Reporting to the SIMS Team Leader, you will be at the heart of our hospital community, where no two days are the same. Your responsibilities include:

  • Providing a reassuring presence while supporting staff, patients, and visitors.
  • Resolving conflicts and tough scenarios with empathy and confidence, using a calm and respectful approach.

Candidate requirements

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to adapt your approach to different people and settings.
  • Relevant experience in a similar role, ideally in healthcare.
  • Ability to apply safe physical intervention techniques when needed.
  • Experience in handling conflict confidently and professionally, including responding to difficult or aggressive behaviour.
  • A calm, composed nature suitable for a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Desirable: Experience with handheld Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs).

The role requires:

  • A WA Security License
  • Certificate II in Security Operations
  • WA Driver's License (C class)
  • First Aid Certificate including CPR
  • Working with Children card
