We are seeking a Network Operator to work in a busy control room to redirect traffic flow, coordinate response teams, and relay critical information to keep our roads safe, while remaining composed and alert at all times. You will join an innovative team that monitors traffic flow and responds quickly to incidents of all sizes. This is meaningful, challenging and exciting work. (12-month fixed-term position)
Day-to-day, you will- Operate intelligent transport systems (ITS), including CCTV, AID, and road management platforms, to ensure safe and efficient traffic flow across open roads and tunnels
- Coordinate with emergency services, field crews, and internal teams to manage incidents such as breakdowns, accidents, and hazards—minimising disruption and ensuring public safety
- Develop incident management and traffic management plans to keep roads running more efficiently and safely when things don't go to plan
- Think creatively to find new ways to improve processes, traffic management, and make recommendations
- Provide accurate, real-time updates to stakeholders, media, and the public using digital platforms and variable message signs
- Demonstrate knowledge of traffic management policies, practices and procedures, including operational systems
- Be able to work across multiple assets to meet business requirements
- Experience in a monitoring centre, control room, or operational environment—ideally with exposure to traffic control, emergency response, or incident management
- Computer-smart and analytical, with an interest in new technology and systems
- Driven, resilient and efficient, with professionalism in challenging situations
- Organised, efficient and decisive in prioritising tasks while juggling multiple responsibilities
- Experience in writing reports and including important details to support smooth operations
- Willingness to work shifts; roads operate 24/7
