Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Oxford Economics Full time
Overview

Department: Alpine Macro

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: Sydney, Australia

Description

Location: Sydney, Australia

Experience: 3–5 years

Alpine Macro, a leading global macroeconomic research firm serving institutional investors, is hiring a Business Development Manager to lead new client acquisition in the Australia and New Zealand asset management market. This Sydney-based role is part of Alpine's growing global presence, following its recent acquisition by Oxford Economics.

You will be responsible for identifying, engaging, and converting ANZ-based asset managers—including superannuation funds, sovereign wealth entities, hedge funds, and boutique investment firms. You'll be the face of Alpine's macro research to a senior and sophisticated investor audience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive outbound prospecting across ANZ via phone, email, LinkedIn, and referrals.
  • Qualify and uncover how local investors evaluate research for macro insights and allocation strategy.
  • Conduct product demos and client meetings both virtually and on-site throughout Australia and New Zealand.
  • Own the end-to-end sales process from first contact to contract signature.
  • Maintain an active pipeline in Salesforce and meet sales goals each quarter.
Market Insight & Positioning
  • Build expertise in how ANZ institutional clients—including super funds—leverage macro research in decision-making.
  • Adjust messaging and demos to align with the unique needs and mandates of the ANZ buy-side.
  • Represent Alpine Macro at relevant conferences, networking events, and webinars across Sydney, Melbourne, and Auckland.
Internal Collaboration
  • Collaborate with Alpine's economists to support client meetings and tailor insights.
  • Provide ANZ market feedback to Product and Research teams to inform roadmaps.
  • Partner with Account Management to ensure seamless onboarding and long-term client success.
CRM & Reporting
  • Track all sales activities, pipeline progress, and lead insights in Salesforce.
  • Share regular sales updates with senior management.
  • Keep contact lists accurate and up-to-date for event invites and targeted outreach.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Required

  • Bachelor's degree (Finance, Economics, Business, or similar)
  • 3–5 years of experience in B2B sales, ideally in financial services or subscription-based research
  • Proven ability to generate and convert leads
  • Self-driven with strong prospecting discipline
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills
  • Ability to work autonomously in a boutique, fast-paced setting
  • Proficient with Salesforce or equivalent CRM

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with the ANZ institutional asset management space (super funds, family offices, investment firms)
  • Experience selling research or data to financial professionals
  • A natural interest in markets, geopolitics, and macroeconomics
