QBuild is a commercialised business unit of the Queensland Government. It has been Queensland Government's builder for over 160 years, playing an important role in communities across the state by building and maintaining government-owned assets such as schools, social housing, police stations and correctional and health facilities.
About the role
You will play a pivotal role in Facilities Management team supporting QBuild's ambition to strengthen Queensland's building and construction industry. Use your exceptional leadership skills to supervise staff while overseeing and coordinating the delivery of service through various Facilities Management Agreements (FMA) including minor works, construction, and maintenance programs. You will also look after a suite of tasks associated with program development, design management, cost planning, tendering, estimating, contract administration and program management of new construction works.
Duties and skills involved:
- Ensure the effective operational delivery of client projects and programs by managing the productivity of the programs resources, monitoring performance and initiating remedial action as necessary.
- Maintain sound relationships with clients and act as the interface with clients.
- Prepare and effectively manage the maintenance, minor works and construction program sales budgets in line with the Queensland Government's Building Policy Framework.
- Achieve operational objectives through effective planning and utilisation of resources, including the ability to successfully manage a commercially-oriented organisation in the Facilities Maintenance or construction Industry, or similar, within the Public Sector.
- Manage, coordinate and integrate a workforce of office and field staff involved in program, product delivery and client liaison activities.
- Plan and resolve resourcing issues and ensure the appropriate allocation and management of resources within each of the operational areas to achieve a consistently high level of quality in the delivery of building services and project management with budgetary, resource and time constraints.
- Manage and implement change and create effective working relationships through leading and developing individuals and teams.
- Proactively manage the work performance and personal conduct of your staff.
Preferred skills and experience:
- Thorough knowledge of the building and facilities management, including quality assurance, building project management and contract administration.
- Experience and knowledge in leading and managing teams and individuals.
- Trade background highly regarded.
