Regional Operations Manager – Hospitality And Facility Services

ESS provides a home away from home for people working in remote mining villages and offshore on oil rigs. We provide hospitality solutions to ensure all guests experience the comforts of home, even in isolated locations.
We currently have an opportunity for a dynamic leader to join our ESS business as the BHP Area Manager for our North WA portfolio.
This customer-focused leadership role involves caring for a team of food professionals and facilities staff. As an experienced operator, you will focus on inspiring your team to create exceptional customer experiences while maintaining a financially sound operation. A strong understanding of the commercial aspects of this managerial role is essential, but excellent leadership—coaching teams, delivering outstanding service, and fostering an environment where customers can fully experience the ESS offering—is at the core of this position. A commitment to safety and environmental respect is crucial for success in this role.
The Role
- Manage and oversee all aspects of site operations
- Experience managing budgets with an understanding of food costing, waste management, and food/site safety
- Deliver a high standard of a premium guest experience
- Adhere to health, safety, and security procedures at all times
- Lead, manage, and motivate a large team of chefs and facilities staff
- Manage expectations of clients and residents
- Strong background in Facilities Management (FM), with proven experience overseeing cleaning, maintenance, and asset management in remote or complex environments
- Operational management of FM services, including planning, compliance, and continuous improvement of hard and soft services
The Person
- Experience managing medium to large sites, with knowledge of culinary and cleaning services, such as villages, hotels, or hospitality venues
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills
- A drive to foster a positive team culture
- Experience with financial reporting, and a commercial and contract-focused mindset
- Proven track record of delivering profitable results
- Ability to engage stakeholders and deliver superior service levels
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with the capacity to think quickly
- Deep knowledge of health and safety standards, with a strong safety commitment
- Sound understanding of HACCP principles
- Ability to adapt swiftly to changing business needs
- Facilities Management experience, including oversight of hard and soft services, compliance, and contractor management
