Overview

Prince of Wales Hospital - Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 3, Telestroke Service. This statewide role provides expert clinical advice and consultancy to Telestroke Service (TSS) referring sites and leads practice development initiatives across NSW. The role is based at Prince of Wales Hospital with mobilisation to travel to up to 22 TSS referring sites across NSW as required.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with the TSS host site team, Prince of Wales Hospital Stroke Department, referring site clinicians and the NSW Telestroke Working Group to standardise and integrate stroke care across the NSW Telestroke network. Initiate and lead practice development across NSW by providing a range of services and working in partnership with the TSS host site team, referring site teams and the NSW Telestroke Working Group. Oversee clinical supervision of referring site stroke coordinators and support care management plan development and implementation for patients with complex health needs. Support embedding of telehealth technology from a clinical perspective and lead the embedding of the Telestroke Model of Care across the state. Promote advancement of clinical practice and initiate collaborative ventures with academic colleagues to influence nursing practice in stroke and telestroke. Play a key role in evaluating the NSW Telestroke Service, coordinating case reviews and clinical follow-up to assess patient outcomes. Based at POWH and mobilised to travel to NSW sites as required, ensuring a consistent, well-integrated clinical service is delivered in collaboration with the NSW Telestroke Nurse Educator.

Where you'll be working

Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 tertiary referral hospital with extensive inpatient and outpatient services. The role involves engagement with SESLHD and Randwick community profiles as part of a broader NSW Telestroke network.

Selection criteria
  • Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse/Midwife, Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and NSW drivers licence and ability and willingness to travel consistent with the requirements of the position
  • Minimum seven years full time equivalent post qualification experience, with at least five years full time equivalent experience in the specialty or related field and post graduate qualifications relevant to the field of practice
  • Demonstrated advanced communication and interpersonal skills across a variety of mediums and proven application of the practice development framework to clinical practice
  • Demonstrated ability to implement changes and develop direction in clinical practice by the initiation, utilisation and review of evidence based research
  • Demonstrated leadership in strategic and clinical service planning and expertise in the management of organisational and cultural change
  • Proven advanced skills in clinical teaching, competency in the use of contemporary information systems and evidence of ability to direct the development of educational programs and capability to use technology to support these endeavours
  • Proven clinical expertise in complex client-centred consultancy with the ability to work independently
  • Ability to engage with telestroke technologies and capability to use and promote the use of innovative technology in clinical settings
