Job Title: Mental Health Nursing Specialist
The Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 1 role presents an exciting opportunity for experienced Mental Health Nurses or Clinical Nurse Consultants to provide clinical expertise in emergency care settings.
This fast-paced environment offers a unique chance to work with individuals experiencing acute mental health symptoms, co-morbid physical and mental health difficulties, and crisis situations requiring mental health assessments.
- Assess and manage persons presenting to the Emergency Department
- Evaluate individuals experiencing acute mental health symptoms
- Assess individuals with co-morbid physical and mental health difficulties
- Manage acute crisis situations requiring mental health assessments
Candidates will require strong skills in time management, communication, comprehensive mental health assessment, risk assessment, admission and discharge planning, problem solving, and understanding common medical and drug & alcohol related conditions that often co-occur with mental health needs.
Requirements:- Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) and a minimum of 5 years post-registration experience in mental health specialty
- Sound knowledge and experience assessing persons within an acute environment
- Demonstrated understanding of nursing processes and their contributions to best practice principles
- Proven clinical leadership skills within the Mental Health program
- Able to conduct thorough Mental Health assessments, including formulation and development of immediate management plans and strategies
- Competency in using information and communication technology for email, internet searches, analysis of clinical data, presentations and clinical documentation
- Excellent verbal communication skills and proficient at documenting assessment outcomes contemporaneously
