Job Description - Apprentice Heavy Vehicle Mechanic (WOR00000217)

We are currently seeking a Heavy Vehicle Apprentice to join our Townsville Workshop. As an Apprentice, you will actively participate in an apprenticeship program under the guidance of experienced technicians and mentors. Your responsibilities include learning and mastering the fundamentals of heavy vehicle mechanics, such as diagnosing mechanical issues, conducting routine inspections, performing scheduled maintenance tasks, and utilising diagnostic tools and equipment effectively.

The Opportunity:

  • Work towards and complete a Cert III Heavy Vehicle Mechanical Technology by participating in training programs, workshops, and educational opportunities to enhance your technical skills and knowledge, progressing towards becoming a qualified Heavy Vehicle Mechanic.
  • Full-time, permanent position | Monday to Friday.
  • Support technicians in performing routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, tyre rotations, and lubrication to ensure vehicles operate efficiently.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues while developing technical skills.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation, and adhere to safety procedures and guidelines.

  • A willingness to undertake the formal training requirements of this role.
  • A positive attitude that contributes to a good work culture and displays exemplary ethics.
  • A genuine interest in the heavy vehicle mechanical trade with a commitment to completing the apprenticeship.
  • Eager to learn, develop, and grow in the trade, with long-term employment prospects beyond the apprenticeship.
  • Experience with a wide variety of modern fleet and specialised equipment, including a full-size service pit.
