The Fleet Operations team leads fleet mechanical services and scheduled vehicle inspections to meet regulatory requirements and comply with the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) and Transport and Main Road (TMR) legislative guidelines. The Fleet Maintenance team provides repairs and maintenance services through full lifecycle management and best practice approaches to ensure all heavy, medium, and light commercial fleet assets and equipment are fit for purpose, maintained to meet complex deployment environments, operational capability, and organisational objectives.

Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, you will conduct repairs and scheduled maintenance of QFD fire appliances, pumps, systems, and associated equipment to ensure they meet operational capability and comply with NHVR, Queensland Transport Operations Regulations 2009, and the Transport Operations Act 1995. Responsibilities include completing job sheets, data entry, and adhering to workplace health and safety policies to ensure effective service delivery.

Purpose of the Role

The Fleet Operations team leads fleet mechanical services and scheduled vehicle inspections to meet regulatory requirements and comply with NHVR and TMR guidelines. The Fleet Maintenance team ensures repairs and maintenance across the fleet to meet operational and organisational objectives.

Key Requirements

  • Current Medium Rigid drivers' license or ability to attain prior to appointment
  • Trade certification as an Engineering Tradesperson - Level 1 Motor Mechanic (Heavy Vehicle) or equivalent skills and knowledge
  • Skills or qualifications in light vehicle trades will be considered with an intent to update certifications if successful

Special Requirements

  • Provide after-hours on-call service for urgent maintenance and repairs of fire appliances and heavy vehicles

Your Responsibilities

  • Service, repair, and maintain fire appliances and associated equipment to comply with legislation and manufacturer specifications
  • Use hand tools, special tools, and diagnostic equipment safely and in compliance with safety policies
  • Participate in ongoing training to maintain competencies
  • Diagnose faults, including electrical issues, using diagnostic equipment and road tests
  • Update parts inventories, job sheets, and maintenance records electronically
  • Communicate condition reports of fire appliances and equipment to the Workshop Supervisor
