About the Opportunity

Based in Nhulunbuy, the Youth Support Worker will play a pivotal role in delivering high quality support services across our Re Connect and #U-Turn programs, as well as other identified initiatives.
Using a strengths-based and trauma-informed framework, you will provide direct support and groupwork to young people, ensuring their individual needs are met while enhancing their capacity and resilience.
You will provide vital information, referrals, advocacy, and engage in developmental group work to address specific needs while raising community awareness about issues affecting youth and appropriate responses.
What we are looking for:

Minimum 2 years' experience working with young people and families in community-based environments
Knowledge of the youth justice, child protection system and local youth, family services (desirable).
Understanding of cultural systems, language skills and ability to work respectfully and collaboratively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, their families, communities, staff, and Aboriginal controlled organisations

Please note: It is a requirement that prior to commencing in this role, you must provide 100 points of identification to confirm Australian citizenship or eligibility to work in Australia; possess a Working with Children (Ochre Card), a current National Criminal History Check (within 3 months) and a valid NT driver's licence.

Experience of working closely with and having a strong understanding of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander culture would be considered an advantage.
