About the team

YWCA Australia's CASY House is Darwin's only youth crisis accommodation for young people of any gender aged 15-18 experiencing homelessness. While residing at CASY House, our team supports clients to learn the necessary life skills – things like budgeting, cooking, cleaning and advocating for themselves – to establish their independence and confidence for the future.

About these opportunities

As a Youth Worker, you will:

  • Support young people aged 15–18 experiencing homelessness by coaching them in essential life skills such as budgeting, cooking, and cleaning.
  • Collaborate with Case Managers and Youth Workers to develop and implement individual support plans and programs.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and trauma-informed environment, responding appropriately to challenging behaviours and critical situations.
  • Build respectful relationships with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders, including those from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Participate in a 24-hour roster, including sleepover and weekend shifts, and maintain accurate case notes in the client management system.

About You

What we're looking for:

  • Relevant qualifications or progress toward a Certificate III in Community Services or Youth Work.
  • Experience working with young people and knowledge of the youth homelessness sector.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and collaborate effectively.
  • A commitment to social change and supporting women's rights.
  • Availability for a 24-hour roster (including sleepover and weekend shifts).

Don't meet every single requirement? At YWCA Australia we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace. If this role speaks to you but your past experience doesn't align perfectly, we encourage you to apply anyway.
