The role is based in Canberra, ACT.
The contract is for an initial 12month period, with possible extension options.
Start: circa 15 September 2025 DSS Skill Set: Level 4 - Procurement Methodologies & Contracting Options & Tender Development The Commercial Lead will be responsible for, but not limited to the following duties: Advice and guidance in support of: procurement planning; tendering and contract formation; and, ensuring compliance with legislation, procurement policies, processes and procedures.
Lead in the commercial strategies and drafting commercial content key project documents and artefacts to meet the standard and schedule required Provide a 'knowledge transfer' service component, drawing on skills and experience and sharing these with Defence staff.
Communicate, consult and collaborate with other Commercial Function services to provide optimised integrated commercial support (e.g.
CFA, AIC, CPP, DFG, etc.) as well as supporting the efficient and effective management of legal support services in collaboration with MPB.
Minimum mandatory requirements: AGSVA Security clearance Defence experience Experience with the following: Provide advice and support to procurement planning, tendering and contract formation, while ensuring compliance with legislation, procurement policies, processes and procedures.
Generate and review strategic and very complex contracting correspondence including providing high level advice in relation to commercially sensitive and technically complex reports, submissions, and other documents as required.
Contribute own expertise to guide and mentor others on the very complex aspects of technical and commercial risk principles and performance management frameworks related to procurement and contracting activities within Defence.
Demonstrate and apply the application of technical and commercial risk principles and performance management frameworks related to procurement and contracting activities within Defence.
Work collaboratively with stakeholders and subject matter experts to develop and lead strategies to address complex to very complex contracting issues.
Evaluate and design mitigation strategies for the risks associated with very complex procurement and contracting activities, contract performance and compliance with legislative and policy frameworks.
Design and implement innovative solutions, consulting as appropriate on very complex and strategic procurement contracting issues.
Provide relevant subject matter expertise to support contract negotiations as required.
Develop Offer Definition and Improvement Activities and negotiation strategies.
