We are seeking an experienced and commercially-driven Chief Financial Officer to join the executive leadership team of a well-established and fast-growing project services organisation based in Newcastle.
This is a rare opportunity to join a business delivering high-value technical and professional services to infrastructure, engineering, and resource sector clients.
With a strong forward pipeline and a growth agenda, this role requires a CFO with deep industry insight and the ability to lead the financial strategy of a complex, project-centric organisation.
About the Role Reporting directly to the CEO and Managing Director, the CFO will be responsible for driving financial performance, governance, commercial strategy and sustainable growth.
You'll play a hands-on leadership role across all aspects of finance while contributing at the highest level to the company's future direction.
This role requires more than technical expertise.
We're looking for a strategic partner who understands the financial levers that underpin project-based delivery, margin protection, cash flow and workforce utilisation in a competitive, contract-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities Lead the finance function across reporting, budgeting, compliance, and audit Deliver timely and accurate forecasting, cash flow management and commercial reporting Provide financial leadership on contract negotiation, project risk and capital expenditure Manage financial strategy, funding models and relationships with external stakeholders Oversee project WIP, margin analysis and cost controls to ensure profitability Guide business systems development and financial process improvements Play a key role in corporate development, including potential expansion initiatives Embed strong financial governance, internal controls and compliance frameworks About You Proven experience as CFO or senior finance leader within a project-based industry (e.g., engineering, construction, mining, or infrastructure)CA/CPA qualified with sound knowledge of commercial and contract law, financial compliance and corporate finance Strong understanding of project accounting, WIP and revenue recognition in services or contracting environments Commercially astute and strategic thinker with strong analytical capability Highly collaborative leadership style and excellent stakeholder engagement skills Comfortable leading in a growth phase with both strategic and operational demands What's on Offer Key leadership role with direct influence on strategic growth and operational performance Collaborative, values-led culture with a strong reputation in the market Competitive salary package with performance-based incentives Flexible work arrangements and a Newcastle-based headquarters An opportunity to help shape the future of a nationally scaling business Interested?
