Project Overview:

Join the Core Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team in Australia to support proposals and work across multiple ECI / Early works and project execution opportunities within R&CP. The successful candidate with thrive in a fast-paced environment, executing deliverables that are integral to executing large-scale facilities.

Job Summary:

As the Construction Manager you will be responsible for supporting proposals and construction planning across project site during the ECI/Early Works Phases and setting the standards for construction objectives where you will integrate all aspects of construction, HSE, quality processes, procedures, methods, and policies critical to the success on the Project for planning of the works during these Phases.

The role will also see you provide risk assessments and champion ECI related site activities, namely geotechnical investigations, surveys, early works and the formulation and development of construction plans, schedules, and procedures, negotiation with contractors and subcontractors and establishing and building the construction team associated with the pre-delivery stage and main execution phase of the Project.

In this role, you will manage direct reports and lead interdisciplinary teams to establish construction methods and support activities in the ECI/Early Works and Execution phases. You will oversee the construction process, review plans and specifications for costs and constructability, manage corporate processes and procedures, and proposal preparations. Your recommendations for studies, lessons learned, project assessments, and new methods will optimize completion of project construction activities.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Promote integrity, technical competence, and commitment to HSE on the Project. Develop and implement the project-level contractor management program.
  • Support proposals by providing narratives on construction methodology for submission and working with Estimating to develop the Indirects/Common Distributable estimate with supporting deliverables such as Temporary Facilities Plan, Construction Equipment Schedules, staffing plan input etc.
  • Provide assistance to project and construction management in implementing and complying with project requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution.
  • Provide technical support and site activity oversight to feasibility studies, site assessment studies, and work risk assessments.
  • Provide technical assistance to other project-assigned functional leads (e.g., engineering, contracts, procurement, project controls) with regards to compliance with project-specific requirements.
  • Other responsibilities as designated.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or construction (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience, or 17-19 years of relevant work experience.
  • Sustained leadership experience working in construction management roles in major project construction.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of Bechtel's organizational structure, functions, administrative procedures, Core Processes, and SWPPs. Skill in the developing, communicating and implementing systems and procedures.
  • Advanced knowledge of field engineering processes, construction, safety, health and environment related disciplines and establishment of temporary facilities, temporary utilities, construction villages and pioneering works to establish sites.
  • Experience in construction planning, interface management and execution on remote sites and on large, complex projects.
  • Experience in supervising all aspects and disciplines of construction on projects.
  • Knowledge of construction environmental issues, e.g., hazardous materials, waste management, erosion and sediment control methods, cultural heritage sites and restoration techniques.
  • Experience in implemented construction skills training programs.
  • Preference to those with Electrical Construction background with knowledge of substations, 33KV underground reticulation and overhead power line construction.
