The Opportunity
Hitachi has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated
Service Supervisor to join our busy Newcastle branch. The key focus of this role is to provide guidance and leadership to our technicians for the Newcastle region.

Reporting to the Branch Co-ordinator, you will:

  • Ensure our service employees comply with all WHS responsibilities, and that above all, a safety-first culture is a consistent behaviour within the team
  • Mentor, guide and support the team to improve performance and efficiencies through training, performance appraisals and performance management.
  • Ensure efficient utilization of equipment and labour resources in line with customer requirements and agreed budgets
  • Provide technical guidance and support to service team members
  • Work closely with the Branch Administrator to manage Service Department Work In Progress ensuring prompt processing and invoicing of internal and external customer work orders
  • Supervise the time sheet accuracy and subcontract documentation to enable prompt job costing
  • Provide timely and accurate quotations for service activities
  • Support existing customers through maintaining strong communication while proactively resolving issues
  • Liaise with internal and external customers regarding service work requirements scheduling
  • Drive compliance with safety and quality lead indicators for the department. Encourage and promote active participation from the workgroup in hazard reporting, safety conversations and vehicle prestarts
  • Ensure the Service Department tooling and equipment remains inspected, calibrated, and compliant per company policy
  • Experience in a similar position with the ability to demonstrate exceptional communication and customer service skills while managing your time efficiently within a high paced work environment
  • A strong technical understanding of earthmoving equipment, or relevant trade qualifications equal to or within a related field.
  • Previous OEM experience will be highly advantageous
  • A strong ability to navigate complex issues, and be ambitious in achieving success
  • A strong understanding in financial best practices of service delivery including labour, overtime, overnight accommodation, and travel recovery
  • Attention to detail in documenting and followup
  • Experience leading a diverse team of high performing trade staff
  • A Safety-First leadership style
