Snowy Hydro owns and operates a powerful combination of generation assets, including the 4100-megawatt Snowy Mountains Scheme, gas and diesel plants and has recently contracted wind and solar energy.

We also provide electricity and gas to more than 1.2 million retail customers through Red Energy and Lumo Energy.

The Hunter Power Project, a gas-fired power station located in Kurri Kurri, NSW will supplement Snowy Hydro's generation portfolio with dispatchable capacity underpinning when the needs of electricity consumers are highest.

The power station will comprise two heavy-duty, open cycle gas turbines (OCGT) and are the latest and most efficient turbines that the world's best manufacturers can offer for the site.

But that is exactly what this project, and this role, offers.

The role:

As Construction Manager, you will provide strategic oversight and direction for all onsite activities of the Hunter Power Project.

You'll lead a team of experts in construction and commissioning to ensure the delivery of the Project meets quality, time, cost, functionality, safety and efficiency objectives and standards.


Your proven leadership capabilities will be applied to:

The coordination of the project's internal and external stakeholders in a disaggregated contract model, for safe and efficient execution of project deliveries.

The Planning and Approvals team, including the review of the Contractors Construction Management Plan

The Environmental and Safety Assurance team, ensuring compliance with the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) and Health and Safety Management Plan (HSMP)

The oversight of all construction activities for compliance with quality requirements

Directing the operations team in the preparation of the power station for Operational Readiness.

We're ideally looking for someone with:
An Engineering Degree with demonstrated experience in the construction management of large scale civil infrastructure projects

Demonstrated experience with large frame gas turbine technology for build, maintenance and operational requirements is desirable

Demonstrated leadership and people management skills and experience.

Excellent interpersonal, business engagement and influencing skills to effectively manage and communicate to a wide range of personnel and stakeholders, including those in remote locations

High-level problem solving, organising, reporting & analytical skills


The ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, and to work effectively both at the site and remotely.

The ability to coach others in technical and asset management issues.

The ability to quickly and effectively adapt to changing circumstances/business demands in a measured and constructive way
