The Role:


We are seeking a
Cultural Facilitator to assist and facilitate staff engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members and organisations, familiarising KU staff with a range of cultural resources, guiding and building their cultural responsiveness and providing culturally safe learning environments.

This role will see you working on a maximum term contract until the end of 2023. You will work 8 hours a day, Monday to Friday and accure a monthly Rostered Day Off (RDO).


It is an identified position for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants only, granted by the NSW Anti-Discrimination Board of New South Wales under exemption 126 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).


To be considered for this role the following are essential:

  • You identify and are known as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person in the communities with whom you live and/or work.
  • Experience in working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities, preferably with young children and families.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all members of a team.
  • Demonstrated level of written and verbal communication skills suitable to the position.
  • Knowledge of child protection legislation and its implications for the care and protection of children.
  • Working With Children Check number.
  • Driver's licence and own car.

The following are desirable for this role:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Early Childhood Education, or other relevant discipline.
  • Experience in teaching and/or training development, a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment will be highly regarded.
  • Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety legislation and safety issues relating to children and staff.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy.
