About us

Legal Aid NSW helps people with their legal problems. We can help people with most areas of criminal law, family law and every day civil law legal issues. We give legal advice, help at court and do family dispute resolution. We can do this over the telephone or at one of our 27 offices.

About the role

We currently have a temporary full-time role, up to 31 December 2023, at our Wagga Wagga office as an Aboriginal Field Officer.

The primary purpose of the role is to:

Ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are informed of their legal options and assist in addressing their unmet legal needs. Assist solicitors and administrative staff to develop, co-ordinate, facilitate and implement outreach services, community legal education sessions and engagement with Aboriginal communities. Assist the Solicitor in Charge, Office Manager, Regional Program Co-ordinators and Solicitors on local community issues that may arise.

The successful applicant will be an enthusiastic and committed team member with experience in responding to the complex needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients. You should be able to communicate with people from a variety of backgrounds and with relevant stakeholders and service delivery partners.

The essential requirements for this role
