The Role:


Aboriginal Engagement Partner supports the implementation of Vinnies' Reconciliation Action Plan, connecting employees to make progress as well as volunteers and members across the state.


The Aboriginal Engagement Partner will:

  • Provide advice and support the implementation of Vinnies' Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) and help embed a commitment to reconciliation.
  • Drive the renewal of a new RAP.
  • Facilitate and support the development and implementation of a cultural capability strategy.
  • Gain contributions towards progressing RAP from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and external stakeholders including coordinating an employee network.
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on key deliverables and support oversight of the RAP including the Working Group activities.
  • Develop and actively promote strategies to attract, retain and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees, volunteers and members.
  • Develop and implement engagement activities to support positive partnerships between Aboriginal organisations and communities with Vinnies.

To be successful, you will need:

  • Be able to connect with a range of people within Aboriginal communities and Vinnies at all levels.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating and running successful Aboriginal employment and/or employee engagement programs.
  • Ability to manage projects and experience in mentoring and managing small groups.
  • Experience in driving outcomes from many people across the an organisation with no direct reporting responsibility.
  • Strong ability to prepare and present reports for senior leadership and employees.
  • A commitment to and a deep understanding of the strategic direction and Values of Vinnies and those accessing its services.
