Annecto is an independent, not for profit organisation committed to increasing opportunities and choices for people with a disability, older persons and communities. The Coolamon Aboriginal Arts Hub is an Annecto enterprise which supports established and emerging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Artists across Australia to;

  • Create, promote, exhibit and sell high quality authentic Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art;

About the Role

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Arts Worker supports the development and operation of the Coolamon Arts Hub, an Annecto not-for-profit social enterprise which supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists to create, promote and sell high quality, original and authentic art.

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Arts Worker will work with the Coolamon Arts Hub team and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, communities and stakeholders to increase participation in, and promotion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts and cultural activities.

The successful candidate will provide culturally appropriate support, culturally safe spaces and leadership, ensure effective community consultation and engagement, build and maintain strong networks and partnerships and play a key role in the development and delivery of artistic and cultural programs and marketing and promotions activities.

What we need from you:

  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, protocols and practices, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a professional setting;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, stakeholders and colleagues;
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes within tight deadlines;
  • Experience in developing and delivering cultural programs and initiatives, including events, workshops and training programs;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high degree of initiative, judgement and discretion; and,
  • Demonstrated commitment to cultural safety and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities.
