My client is a prominent national sports organization with over 30,000 + members that advocates for athletes' rights, promotes responsible sportsmanship, and organizes competitions and events across various disciplines.

It encompasses a diverse range of sports activities and provides training, safety programs, and education for its members while actively representing the interests of sports enthusiasts in Australia.


Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside the Sydney Branch Committee in an administration/management function responsible for the daytoday operations of the branch.
  • Effectively manage the Sydney Branch Staff, ensuring compliance with all legislative employment requirements.
  • Advise on and ensure proper corporate governance practices are followed.
  • Responsible for Recruitment and Human Resources functions in consultation with Managers.
  • Liaise with Managers with respect to volunteer staff and Officers.
  • Consult with sector and stakeholders as directed by Branch Executive.
  • Implementation of a strategic and business plan as well as focusing on developing policy documentation.
  • Assist with financial planning and management of branch assets.
  • Consult with and provide guidance to the Sydney Branch Committee on internal matters including HR, legal, compliance, and other issues that arise, and develop effective policies and procedures to ensure proper corporate governance and effective processes for the branch.
  • Provide administrative support to the Sydney Branch Managers for the daytoday running of Sydney Branch activities.
  • Work towards ensuring the branch's aims and objectives are followed.
  • Ensure the Sydney Branch is compliant with all WH&S, regulations, and implement policies and procedures that will ensure such legislative requirements are met.
  • Assist the Range Planning subcommittee with the search and eventual acquisition/development of Sydneybased facilities.
  • Handle inquiries from members regarding branch matters and develop the branch's social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) and administer the branch's website.
  • Coordinate and plan branch events including competitions, functions, and meetings (AGM, SGM).
  • Provide support to the Branch President/Secretary/Treasurer and other stakeholders as needed/required.

Background & Skills:

  • Must be able to pass the relevant Police checks for working in a regulated industry, be the holder of a current license or be willing to obtain such a license.
  • Must hold a current driver's license and be willing to travel the greater Sydney area / Interstate as directed by Branch Executive
  • Demonstrable experience with running or managing notforprofit organizations and associations with large membership bases, including an understanding of the Associations Act and the need to adhere to the relevant club constitution.
  • Demonstrable understanding of the laws, regulations, and relevant Government Departments/Authorities. Previous experience with HR and Recruitment matters, OHS, Business Administration, Association Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement (Office of Fair Trading, Government Departments, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience and proven ability to effectively manage both paid and volunteer staff as well as stakeholders.
  • Relevant business qualifications or a track record of successful business management experience.
  • High level of computer literacy with proficiency in using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • An understanding of financial reporting, including P&L, Balance Sheets, and Budgets.
  • A team player with the ability to work independently and autonomously.
