Position Description

Coordinator - Survey and Design

Purpose
The primary emphasis of this role centres around contributing to the achievement of City
Services Department, Engineering, Assets & Environment Division and Engineering Team
objectives, aiming to enhance their strategy and goals, and effectively execute the Coordinator

  • Survey & Design role. Collaborating with the Civil team and Open Space Planning team, this
position offers a platform for positive engagement and joint efforts.

In line with our unwavering commitment to the City of Marion, you will play a pivotal role in
delivering exceptional service to our community, working diligently to enhance residents'
overall quality of life. Your role will involve a continuous, intelligent, and efficient approach to
your daily responsibilities, upholding the organisation's values and purpose.

By assuming this role, you will play a significant part in the City of Marion's efforts to drive
excellence in Infrastructure Planning, Project Management (Project Initiation, Plan and
Detailed Design phases) and leading a team to provide high quality technical advice and
services. Thereby furthering council's commitment to improving business outcomes.

Key Deliverables

  • Manage and coordinate the survey and design services within the team.
  • Supervising and providing guidance and direction to other survey and design staff.
  • Coordinate and develop design projects and programs within scope, budget, and
timeline.

  • Updating and maintaining Council's standard drawings and technical specifications.
  • Deliver comprehensive project documentation and reports.
  • Prepare accurate financial reports, including cost estimation and project/program
budget requirements.

  • Lead the development and implementation of Stormwater Management Plans.
  • Manage the Before you Dig (BYD) response automation system.
  • Support the Asset Management Planning processes and improvement plan initiatives.
  • Provide high level technical advice on the knowledge of Design Standards, Guides and
Technical Codes.

  • Engaging and supporting specialist design services/consultants for infrastructure
projects.

Essential criteria

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Civil Engineering (or similar technical field).
  • Advanced time management, planning and coordination skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of roads, footpath, drainage, traffic control device construction.
