We do this by:

  • Growing innovative & competitive businesses, industries and regions
  • Investing in science and technology
  • Strengthening the resources sector.

About the Anti-Dumping Commission:

We are Australia's trade remedies authority - the Anti-Dumping Commission.

The Commission is responsible for undertaking investigations into allegations of unfair international trade practices involving goods entering Australia and administering Australia's anti-dumping legislation.

These investigations seek to deliver a level playing field for industry. Professionalism, excellence and independence underpins the Commission's world-class reputation.

The Commission is a connected team of professionals with investigative, accounting, auditing, legal, economic and international trade skills and experience.

Our team works well together because we have a supportive and inclusive workplace culture. We prioritise collaboration, fostering an environment where skills, knowledge, and support are freely exchanged.

Centra l to our ethos is the well-being of our team members, whom we empower to lead and manage with confidence.

Our goal is for staff to reach their full potential through engaging work and career growth opportunities.

About the branch:

We are offering an exciting opportunity to join a team of passionate and committed professionals.

We are looking for motivated and skilled professionals who have:

- skills in auditing, forensic accounting and/or cost accounting
- an ability to analyse financial data and undertake calculations using advanced MS Excel techniques, including proficiency in pivot tables and look-up functions (e.g. vlookup, index, match functions)
- an eye for detail, able to accurately record and explain your findings in a detailed work program and public facing reports that withstand scrutiny from internal and external stakeholders
- an ability to form productive and collaborative working relationships and build rapport with internal and external stakeholders
- high standards of professional and personal integrity in line with the APS Values and the APS Code of Conduct including when representing the Australian Government overseas on verifications.

The role requires you to visit exporters in small teams of 2-3, therefore you must be willing and able to undertake international travel (for periods of approximately one week duration), possibly multiple times throughout the year.

What you will do:

Reporting to a Director, you will use your auditing, forensic accounting and/or cost accounting skills to lead a small team of verifying an exporter's submitted cost and sales data using our verification framework and guidelines.

You will be given extensive training and support to succeed with the goal of leading exporter verifications.

You will lead a small team in the commission, requiring:

  • well-developed leadership skills including the ability to create a working environment that encourages and supports openness, collaboration and genuine debate around critical issues

Leading a verification team, you will:

  • complete verification of an exporter's data to a high standard within agreed timeframes
- either travel to an exporter's premises overseas where the financial, sales and production records are held, or conduct the verification virtually using the commission's video conferencing facilities where required
- interview company personnel, examine financial records, reconcile ledgers and reports in accounting information systems, and cross-check information to other commercial documents
- use your data analytical skills to analyse the exporter's cost and sales data to identify and mitigate against risks
- develop verification strategies that mitigate the risks of using exporter data to support quality, independent decision-making at the commission through collaborative working across teams
- use your judgement and professional scepticism to assess the evidence provided by exporters
- record your findings and evidence collected in a detailed work program, and the key outcomes in a verification report.

For an example of the verification report, please refer to the Electronic Public Record for Case 580 - Copper Tube, document 9: Exporter Verification Report - Hailiang (Vietnam) Copper Manufacturing Company Limited
