TITLE Café, Catering and Events Support

Casual Positions

Covenant Christian School is seeking casual staff to join its 'Café Covie' team.

You will provide staff, parents, visitors and Year-12 students with coffee and

refreshments during the school morning and at community events. These positions

will back-up our permanent part-time staff during times of absence and during

these busy periods.
As a staff member at Covenant, you will be responsible for implementing the Vision and
Mission of Covenant Christian School and will show godly hospitality to our guests, as an
expression of the outworking of your faith.

Café Covie exists to serve and assist parents, students and staff by providing a friendly
environment that builds community. Our café provides an informal setting to allow
community members to relax, conduct a meeting or arrange a catch-up with other
members of the school community. It provides coffee and other refreshments as well as a
light food menu.

Morning shifts are usually 4.5 hours per day, from 7.30am to 12pm with opening times
from 8.15am to 11.15am. Special community events are often held at other times,
including evenings.

Covenant Christian School was founded over 40 years ago by Christian

parents who passionately believed that parents are responsible for

bringing up their children in the training and instruction of the Lord

(Ephesians 6:4).
Their vision was a school that provided a comprehensive education, taught to
a high standard by Christian teachers, in which Christ was recognised as Lord
of all. This education was not only to prepare the students for future study or
work, but for life itself.

This Position Café, Catering and Events Support
Key Relationships Parents, Students, Staff and School Visitors

GENERAL - Preparation and service of coffee and other refreshments, and serving food.
RESPONSIBILITIES - Assist in the functional operations of Café Covie.

  • Engage with parents on the café volunteer roster; work effectively with parent and student
volunteers.

  • Ensure operations in accordance with safe food handling and WHS standards
  • General kitchen duties.
  • Stacking chairs, moving tables, relocating and unpacking boxes.
  • Adhere to cash handling procedures in accordance with the Cash Handling Policy.
  • From time to time you may be required to undertake other related tasks as delegated
by the Marketing and Community Engagement Manager or Business Manager.

  • Ensure a child safe culture that promotes positive student wellbeing.
  • Ensure a strong Parent Partnership presence that supports our community on both
a day-to-day level and during school events and programs, including the Class Parents
program.

  • Establish and maintain a positive Café Covie culture that aligns to the school's Code of
Conducts as they relate to parents, students and staff.

  • KEY
  • Committed Christian of a reformed evangelical persuasion actively involved in the life of
REQUIREMENTS their local church, with a strong passion for Christian community.

  • Able and willing to sincerely affirm the School's Statement of Belief modelling a lifestyle
that reflects Christian practice and these beliefs in their everyday work and life.

  • Barista experience desirable with the ability to deliver a consistent highquality product in a
timely manner.

  • Catering and events experience desirable with a servant hearted attitude to daytoday
