The Opportunity

MinRes Onslow Iron project is set to redefine mining in Western Australia through world-first autonomous road trains, industry leading dust free transport and resort-style workforce accommodation. This role will be directly involved in the management accounting of these mining services.

Key responsibilities

  • Working with Operations to deliver monthly reports (Management and Capex reports) and financial information that are accurate, timely and provide insightful analysis
  • General Ledger and sub-ledger maintenance for allocated business unit(s)
  • Ensure Fixed Asset register is maintained including timely capitalisations and disposals, and appropriate depreciation methods are applied
  • Assists with budget/forecast process, providing accurate inputs and analysing results
  • Preparation of audit work papers and liaising with auditors to address their queries during half and full year, in addition to other ad hoc audits (e.g. DMIRS)
  • Balance Sheet reconciliations preparation and providing support for movements and closing balances
  • Managing deliverables by prioritising the requirements of SMA/FC, Site, Corp Finance and auditors
  • Actively works to close month end earlier – focuses on materiality and analysis, identifying and assisting in implementing improvements
  • Continuously monitors actions and transactions to ensure controls are followed and that compliance with standards is maintained\

What is required

  • Tertiary Degree in Accounting
  • Completed or working towards CA/CPA
  • 2+ years of experience in a range of accounting activities – including general accounting, financial analysis, audit and management reporting
  • Mining Services experience preferred (desirable)
  • Good technical accounting knowledge and ability to practically apply to MRL
  • "Can-do" attitude - each challenge is approached with resilience and a positive, resourceful, forward-looking attitude
