At the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI), we are committed to achieving innovative, ground-breaking health and medical research that fundamentally improves the quality of life for all people.


The role will coordinate activities and provide professional and efficient administrative and research support to Research and Facility Services to ensure the smooth operations of the teams including Bioresources, Core Facilities and Facilities.


Reporting to the Director, Research and Facility Services, this position will work closely with the Research Infrastructure Manager, Research and Facility Services teams, researchers, and operational teams across SAHMRI as well as external stakeholders.

About the role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Daily operation of ACLS, (SAHMRI's equipment and facility room booking system) including system administration, user management, billing and enquiries.
  • Process purchase orders and invoices and administration of payments
  • Manage the external user access to core facilities
  • Update the intranet and website content for the Research and Facility Services teams
  • Coordinate Research and Facility Services events and social functions
  • Act as the PURE (SAHMRI's research management system) delegate, validating research outputs and updating submissions for Research and Facility Services
  • Provide backup support to the Cryogenics facility staff
  • Coordinate newsletter submissions as required
  • Maintain and update the core facilities brochure as required
  • Assist with coordinating and running core facilities tours
  • Coordinate Research and Facility Services surveys and collate responses
  • Assist with entering data records into SAHMRI's asset management system
  • Organise travel arrangements for Core facilities and Facilities staff
  • Assist with managing shared mailboxes
About You

  • Qualifications in business administration or relevant bachelor's degree
  • Experience in an administrative or research role (health/science/medical environment preferable but not essential
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experience in in maintaining and controlling confidential records and filing systems
  • Highly organised and methodical
  • Show initiative and be task focused
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills
  • Friendly, selfmotivated person who is willing to take ownership of the role
  • A "can do" and flexible attitude and demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
