The Company

For over 30 years, the organisation has been developing a name for delivery of quality infrastructure projects for government and private sector clients. Recent years have seen an increase in the work coming from government contracts as their reputation has grown. They are seeking an experienced Business Development/Market Development Manager to help grow the business to the next level.

Essential for your success in this role will be your industry knowledge and relationships that you've been building throughout your career. This role definitely needs a combination of 'what you know' and 'who you know'. Experience with Water/Sewer/Pump Station projects is essential.

You could be doing a similar role with a large company wanting more autonomy and control over your role without the hierarchy or politics and red-tape, or be keen to move from Project Management or Estimating into a client facing role.

The Role

Reporting to the Managing Director (MD), your tasks and duties will include:

  • Building upon established relationships with Local Government /Council clients around NSW, the MD will assist with introductions (regular travel is required in this role, NSW focused)
  • Leveraging your industry knowledge, experience and contacts to pursue upcoming projects and working with the Estimating & Projects team to identify appropriate opportunities – new business development
  • Network within the industry (industry events etc.) to gain awareness of future opportunities - who's doing what projects and where?' and building relationships
  • Working with the Leadership team on plans for diversifying the business and developing the sales/market strategy
  • Regular reporting on activity to the MD and also communicating your market intel to your colleagues

About You

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Demonstrated success in Civil Construction securing projects involving Water/Sewer/Pumpstations
  • Relevant Engineering based qualifications, strong technical skill/knowledge - Project Management/Estimating experience viewed favourably -
  • Excellent communication skills and strong prioritising skills to manage your time effectively
  • Strong relationships within the industry/sector that you can leverage for winning business
  • A friendly attitude, a desire to work with good people who have a sense of humour, and an eagerness to be a key player helping build a business through its next stage of growth
