Senior Business Analyst

Fixed-term contract until April 2025

  • Experience Hybrid working arrangements in a flexible environment – ex: Work from the office or home in a rhythm that suits you
  • Join a fast-growing team within REA
  • Sustainability - We are certified carbon neutral and committed to reducing our impact on the environment.

We're REA

REA Group is not your average digital business. From humble beginnings in a garage in Melbourne's east in 1995, we have grown into a leading global digital business, specialising in property.

With bold and ambitious goals, we are changing the way the world experiences property. No matter where you're at on your property journey, we're here to help with every step - whether that's finding or financing your next home.

Our people are the key to our success. At the heart of everything we do, is a thriving culture centred around high performance and care. We are purpose driven and collaborative, which drives innovation and our ability to make a real impact. As such, we're proud to be named in Australia's "Top 5" Best Workplaces two years in a row, as well as being recognised as a Best Workplace for Women.

Where the team fits in

The role sits within the Advertising Portfolio, which is made up of REA's customer platform and market teams.

The customer platform is made up of two teams which this role sits across - the Contracting and Purchasing squads. Together they look after maintaining, enabling and enhancing capabilities such as product configuration, pricing configuration, quoting, contract management, purchasing, billing and more. The customer platform is central to the customer lifecycle, and to enabling customer experiences across the business.

What the role is all about

As a Senior Business Analyst, you will be responsible for the solution design and delivery of products and services in a collaborative team environment using agile methods.

The customer platform is complex and backend-heavy, so familiarity with architecturally dense system landscapes, the ability to understand how many different systems interact to drive varied functionality, and attention to detail is valuable. Additionally, the ability to query data with basic SQL to support analysis and investigation is highly valuable, as many systems have no declarative report tooling / UI.

You will be responsible for:

  • Understanding complex business and system landscapes, and clearly articulating business needs from a varied group of stakeholders
  • Translating business needs into detailed system or product requirements with clear, concise and testable user stories & process flows with acceptance criteria
  • Ensuring requirements are understood by developers from capability inception to story kick offs and constant communication throughout the development process
  • Communicating any requirement dependencies, issues or risks identified through the analysis process
  • Contributing to the teams' understanding and prioritisation during sprint planning meetings
  • Participating in estimation sessions by describing the requirements and clarifying any questions raised
  • Contributing to defining, organising or executing quality-assurance testing
  • Working closely with other squads across the business to shape the direction of the complete solution architecture, and to support other squads in delivering components
  • Utilising analytical skills and query tooling to support the teams

What we are looking for

  • At least 5 years as a Business Analyst
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to facilitate workshops and to communicate effectively with Product Managers, Designers, Developers and other stakeholders across the organisation
  • Experience using Agile and Lean methodologies
  • Experience in gathering and developing detailed functional requirements across complex business and system landscapes
  • Experience translating detailed requirements into stories with acceptance criteria and refining with development teams
  • Experience conducting systems analysis for both front and back-end applications
  • Experience working in large organisations with complex and highly varied business functions
  • Comfortable querying data and using analytical tooling with basic SQL
  • Comfortable with backend systems and architecture · Comfortable working across a couple of teams
  • Business, Commerce or Technical degree, or equivalent industry experience · Work productively in a fast paced and agile environment and bring a continuous improvement mindset by identifying and communicating potential gaps and improvements for business operation process

The REA experience

The physical, mental, emotional and financial health of our people is something we'll never stop caring about. This is a place to learn and grow. We're committed to your development – both professionally and personally. Your experience with us is something we take seriously.

We offer:

  • A hybrid and flexible approach to working
  • Flexible parental leave offering for primary and secondary carers
  • Programs to support mental, emotional, financial and physical health & wellbeing
  • Our Because We Care program offers employees volunteering leave, community grants, matched payroll giving and our Community Café donates 100% of revenue to charity.
  • Hack Days so you can bring your big ideas to life
  • Performance recognition programs because hard work should never go unnoticed

Our commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

We are committed to providing a working environment that embraces and values diversity, equity and inclusion. We believe teams with diverse ideas and experiences are more creative, more effective and fuel disruptive thinking - be it cultural and ethnic backgrounds, gender identity, disability, age, sexual orientation, or any other identity or lived experience. We know diverse teams are critical to maintaining our success and driving new business opportunities. If you've got the skills, dedication and enthusiasm to learn but don't necessarily meet every single point on the job description, please still get in touch.
