Richmond, Australia REA Group Full time

Develop your career at REA

Fixed-term contract until April 2025

You’re here because you’re interested in taking the next step in your career. Your team knows you are great, but this team might not know you so well. This role reports to Chris Bride – it wouldn’t hurt to reach out to them for a chat to learn more about the position Prior to applying, please speak with your current manager – it’s crucial they are aware of your interest in another role.

Which team is this in

The role sits within the Advertising Portfolio, which is made up of REA’s customer platform and market teams.

The customer platform is made up of two teams which this role sits across - the Contracting and Purchasing squads. Together they look after maintaining, enabling and enhancing capabilities such as product configuration, pricing configuration, quoting, contract management, purchasing, billing and more. The customer platform is central to the customer lifecycle, and to enabling customer experiences across the business.

What the role is all about

As a Senior Business Analyst, you will be responsible for the solution design and delivery of products and services in a collaborative team environment using agile methods.

The customer platform is complex and backend-heavy, so familiarity with architecturally dense system landscapes, the ability to understand how many different systems interact to drive varied functionality, and attention to detail is valuable. Additionally, the ability to query data with basic SQL to support analysis and investigation is highly valuable, as many systems have no declarative report tooling / UI.

Day to day of the job

  • Understanding complex business and system landscapes, and clearly articulating business needs from a varied group of stakeholders

  • Translating business needs into detailed system or product requirements with clear, concise and testable user stories & process flows with acceptance criteria

  • Ensuring requirements are understood by developers from capability inception to story kick offs and constant communication throughout the development process

  • Communicating any requirement dependencies, issues or risks identified through the analysis process

  • Contributing to the teams’ understanding and prioritisation during sprint planning meetings

  • Participating in estimation sessions by describing the requirements and clarifying any questions raised

  • Contributing to defining, organising or executing quality-assurance testing

  • Working closely with other squads across the business to shape the direction of the complete solution architecture, and to support other squads in delivering components

  • Utilising analytical skills and query tooling to support the teams

Who we’re looking for

To set yourself up for success in this role you will have ideally gained experience in the following areas:

  • At least 5 years as a Business Analyst

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to facilitate workshops and to communicate effectively with Product Managers, Designers, Developers and other stakeholders across the organisation

  • Experience using Agile and Lean methodologies

  • Experience in gathering and developing detailed functional requirements across complex business and system landscapes

  • Experience translating detailed requirements into stories with acceptance criteria and refining with development teams

  • Experience conducting systems analysis for both front and back-end applications

  • Experience working in large organisations with complex and highly varied business functions

  • Comfortable querying data and using analytical tooling with basic SQL

  • Comfortable with backend systems and architecture · Comfortable working across a couple of teams

  • Business, Commerce or Technical degree, or equivalent industry experience · Work productively in a fast paced and agile environment and bring a continuous improvement mindset by identifying and communicating potential gaps and improvements for business operation process

But we don’t just look for someone based on their skills and expertise. We need someone who is going to continue to build and shape our culture through embracing our values. That means you also need to be:

  • A strong and creative communicator

  • Friendly, approachable and have good relationship management skills

  • An avid supporter of our fully inclusive culture - we celebrate difference and ensure that everyone belongs

Some of these things might push you out of your comfort zone or you might be looking at this thinking you can absolutely flourish in this role… Whatever you think, we think you should throw your hat in the ring

Reach out to Stasio Dunford if you need any help.
