Your Opportunity

The purpose of this position is to provide leadership, direction and coordination in the assessment and case management for Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) clients to ensure a consistent and professional approach in the delivery of services and support that is responsive to the needs of clients.

This position sits in the Migrant Education AMEP & SEE section of the Faculty of English Language & Migrant Education unit and reports to the Operations Manager.

This is a casual opportunity until July 2023 unless otherwise determined.

This position is based primarily at South Bank campus however you may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland Brisbane region campuses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the success of transformation and cultural change through promoting and modelling the established values of Safety First, Working Together, Focussing on our Customer, Taking Responsibility and Showing Initiative.
  • Live a safety culture, lead by example and support the Health Safety and Environment Management System to create a TAFE Queensland Brisbanewide safety culture.
  • Facilitate and conduct the Initial Assessment of clients using prescribed methodologies and identify the client's educational background and likely pace of learning.
  • Provide advice and information to clients on program entitlements, their rights and responsibilities, tuition options and support services such as child care placement.
  • Manage educational placement that is responsive to the needs of eligible clients including TAFE classes, distance learning, selfpaced modules or home tutoring.
  • Build, manage and maintain positive, professional relationships with all contract partners and stakeholders to provide advice and input into the development and continuous improvement of support and services.
  • Liaise with TAFE Queensland, TAFE English Language and Literacy Services (TELLS) Senior Education Consultants, TELLS AMEP Contract Services Officer and Community Liaison Officers to assess client and program needs and ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Provide pathway guidance services for clients including addressing the changing needs of clients, referral to specialised services, skills recognition, monitoring course attendance, progress and conducting exit interviews.
  • Undertake promotional activities across internal and external networks and agencies including culturally and linguistically diverse communities to raise the awareness of the AMEP.
  • Facilitate and support the work placement of AMEP clients including workplace visits, simulated workplace environments and short work experience placements.
  • Contribute to the achievement of TAFE Queensland Brisbane's quality policies by encouraging an environment where high quality of work is achieved and is supported by the adherence/development of quality system documentation.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
How you will be assessed
The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of adult education and training service delivery and strategies including English as a Second Language (ESL) services for a diverse range of clients.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF).
  • Well developed organisational skills including the ability to utilise analytical, conceptual and innovative problem solving skills to support client needs.
  • Works collaboratively with a broad range of internal and external clients and stakeholders including people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, liaison and communication skills to communicate with stakeholders, manage relationships and engage with community groups.
Mandatory Qualifications/Requirements

  • An Australian undergraduate degree or equivalent; and
  • A post graduate TESOL Qualification in adult education or equivalent; and
  • Possess either:
  • A TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, OR
  • An approved Diploma or higher level qualification in adult education, OR
  • A TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training a
