Collie Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a Teacher – Physical Education with an ability to teach Maths to join the supportive this high quality regional school. The position offers the right applicant the opportunity to teach Health and Physical education initially for Semester One and the opportunity to continue in the school, to take on some classes within our Maths department into Semester Two.

Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
About the role
Collie SHS is seeking a Secondary teacher to join a collaborative team of teachers, who is relationship focussed and has a flexible and inclusive approach to learning. The successful applicant should ideally display the ability to provide purposeful and relevant learning experiences that cater for different student learning needs as outlined in the Australian Curriculum, employing research based high impact teaching strategies. The successful applicant will ideally have the ability to embed positive student behaviour strategies in their instructional practice.
Experience in teaching in the Maths Learning Area, along with HPE is desirable but we would encourage graduates who have an interest in teaching across learning areas to apply as the timetable may be manipulated to embrace the strengths of the successful applicant. This position is likely to be extended after the initial 12 month contract for the right applicant as further opportunities present themselves.
It will be highly regarded if the successful applicant can develop a supportive and positive classroom environment, possess effective interpersonal skills and be able to work collaboratively and effectively in a professional learning community setting. The successful applicant should display an ability to elicit positive student behaviour using a restorative approach.
They should have a commitment to inclusive education and a strategic approach in planning for improved student outcomes. The capacity to differentiate the curriculum to meet the needs of students with a range of achievement levels, language backgrounds and learning difficulties will be highly regarded. In keeping with this, the successful applicant will ideally be committed to maximising the engagement and progress of all students.

The location and community
Collie is a town in the Southwest region of Western Australia, 213 kilometres (south of the state capital, Perth, and 59 kilometres inland from the regional city and port of Bunbury. It is near the junction of the Collie and Harris Rivers, in the middle of dense jarrah forest and the only coalfields of Western Australia.
Tourist attractions at Collie include the Steam Locomotive Museum, Collie Art Gallery, Minninup Pool and Wellington Dam. Parks include Soldier's Memorial Park and natural features include the Collie River. Stockton Lake, Lake Kepwari, Harris River Dam and Wellington Dam are man-made reservoirs and lakes available for leisure and recreation.
