The opportunity we have available


The Classification Branch provides policy and operational advice, education and training on the classification of films, computer games and publications.

It delivers operational and secretariat support to the Classification Board and Classification Review Board (the Boards) and supports industry through the administration of approved classification tools.

The Branch is also responsible for the oversight of the Classification (Publications, Films and Computer Games) Act 1995 and the National Classification Scheme.


We are seeking a talented person to provide direct support to the Director and Deputy Director of the Classification Board (the Board) in organising the daily work of the Board to meet statutory deadlines and maintain quality standards.

The position is a Departmental position in the Classification Branch however involves supporting the Board in its day to day operations.

The role of the Classification Board Support Officer will include:

  • Providing secretariat support to the Board in relation to daily work programs, Board meetings, development / training activities and travel and onboarding of new members
  • The coordination and delivery of reporting on Board activities, including compiling statistics and preparation of monthly reports and the coordination of responses to Departmental requests
  • Providing operational support for Board members, including facilitating effective work processes and records management
  • Contributing to a range of written material, including preparation of Board meeting papers, Board correspondence, briefings, Annual Report and other written materials as required
  • Contributing to continuous improvement processes, including the design and implementation of Board procedures and documentation to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and APS policy and practices.


The role may involve some travel to Canberra and viewing film, game or publication content that is high in impact and/or objectionable.


Note:

A merit pool will be established for a period of 18 months from the date of this advertisement as a result of the selection process to fill similar vacancies in the department and across the APS.
