The Opportunity


Melton City Council's Environmental Enhancement Program is a leader in effective engagement and behaviour change for sustainable private land management.


Predominantly a post-agricultural and equine landscape experiencing rapidly growing urban development, much of the municipality will be retained for Green Wedge and Rural Conservation purposes.

The area is affected by some highly invasive weeds that have potential to impact the high value remnants of Volcanic Plains Grasslands and Grassy Woodlands.

This landscape is where you will make your mark.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Senior Land Management Officer, you will assist to build positive relationships with land owners and managers, provide information and advice, facilitate behaviour change and negotiate land management outcomes. You will have a passion for engaging and working with people from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Increase capacity of landholders to satisfactorily participate in the Environmental Enhancement Program with the primary aim of improving weed management and biodiversity outcomes on private land
  • Visit properties, liaise with landholders, encourage them to undertake further works where required.
  • Assess landholder compliance with agreed works

About you

_ To be successful in this role you will have the following:_

  • Tertiary qualifications in Land Management, Conservation or Agriculture with some experience or other qualifications with relevant experience in weed management, native vegetation management and rural landholder liaison
  • High level interpersonal skills
  • Experience in organising projects within timetable and budgetary constraints.
  • Demonstrated high level of verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capacity to drive for up to 6 hours a day is required.
