**Role**:
A Business Manager role will usually undertake tasks that impact on the whole school. The role seeks to gain cooperation of other staff members or members of the school community to achieve specific objectives, such as in school administration, finance or human resources.

Direction on targets and goals is provided but the position will have some degree of latitude in determining how they are achieved. This latitude will generally be limited by standard procedures and school policy. Deviation from standard procedures and school policy will require guidance and direction from senior management.

Management of staff to achieve the expected outcomes is a key responsibility. Staff management issues will be resolved with mínimal reference to senior management, although guidance will be required in more complex cases. Senior management will be provided with timely reports and advice in matters relating to the school finance, human resources or school administration.

**Responsibilities**:
As a member of the leadership team within a school/s responsible for the management of the following:
Examples are:

- Management of recruitment policy and procedures.
- Management of the development and delivery of professional development programs within the school/s.
- Management of the development and implementation of human resource planning, strategies and guidelines.
- Management of the delivery and quality of professional student support services involving multi-disciplinary functions e.g. therapist, psychological and social work services.
- Provision of expert and authoritative advice regarding workforce planning for all school operations and services.
- Management of the school/s budget and financial performance.

**Background**

Aintree Primary School is located on 3.5 hectares of land at 11 Timbertop Parade, Aintree 3336 (Local Government Area of Melton). The school opened for enrolments in F - 6 year levels in Term 1, 2021. The school has a current enrolment of 800 which will increase significantly to approximately 1000 in 2023, with continued growth expected over the next 4 - 5 years.

The school belongs to the successful Brimbank/Melton Network of Schools which includes three other new Government schools alongside well-established and thriving schools across primary, secondary, Specialist, P-9 and Senior Secondary.

There is a Children and Community Hub adjacent to the school which houses Kindergarten, Maternal and Child Health and community facilities. Together Aintree Primary School and the Hub can help local children make a smooth transition from pre-school and reduce the number of drop-offs for some parents with kinder and school-aged children.
