The Botanic Gardens of Sydney is responsible for Australia's oldest scientific institute, three iconic botanic gardens and one of the nation's most significant public parks.

The Trust incorporates the Australian Institute of Botanical Science, the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, the Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan, the Blue Mountains Botanic Garden Mount Tomah and The Domain.


About the role


Made up of committed, collaborative and creative people, our Experiences, Partnerships and Engagement team are seeking a Head of Partnerships & Development to lead the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of strategies and programs designed to secure funding that delivers significant income to support the key strategic priorities of the Botanic Gardens of Sydney.


This role is pivotal in directly managing relationships with Principal Partners and the Foundation & Friends of the Botanic Gardens and is responsible for driving tourism strategy across the Trust's sites.

Collaborating closely with all directorates to ensure the success of contracted deliverables and the acquisition of significant external fundraising is key to this role.


This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive fundraising professional to join and represent this highly regarded for purpose and iconic portfolio and dedicated team.


About You

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and experience in business development or corporate partnerships with a proven track record in client servicing and account management.
  • Extensive experience in business development or fundraising with a proven track record of securing major cash and inkind support from donors and partners.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience in the tourism and/or for purpose sector.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to identify and act on opportunities ahead of the curve.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with experience in developing strong external relationships.
