The Position

St John of God Hawkesbury District Health Service is a teaching hospital in Windsor NSW, providing acute, community and allied health services for the local community and surrounding areas. Our 131-bed healthcare facility is operated by St John of God Health Care and provides public patient services under a public-private partnership with the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.


We are currently seeking a
Community Care Assistant /
Allied Health Assistant to join our multi-disciplined Transitional Aged Care Program.


The Transitional Aged Care Program is a post hospital rehabilitation and support service for elderly consumers living in the Hawkesbury LGA.

The aim of the program is to improve functional outcomes for consumers and prevent premature entry into Residential Aged Care


Supported by your peers, you will be working with the aged population in their homes, providing assistance with personal care, cleaning, washing, shopping, social support, transport and supervising therapist prescribed home exercise programs.

The AHA also completes the administration tasks for the Transitional Aged Care Program and is responsible for maintaining the HDHS patient equipment loan pool.

This position is being offered on a
permanent full-time basis, working 38 hours per week.

Essential

  • A willingness and capacity to embrace the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.
  • Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance or commitment to complete same.
  • Ability to follow instructions, policies and procedures.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), with an ability to relate to others in a sensitive and professional manner.
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Welldeveloped organisational skills, with an ability to manage your own workflow and cope with competing demands.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Sound computer skills
  • Current NSW Driver's license with proved excellent driving record
  • Current First aid Certificate

Desirable

  • An understanding of, and commitment to, quality improvement.
  • Experience working in an inpatient or community setting
