Qualified Clinical Coder - Full time/ Part time

Position Summary:

  • Provide accurate and timely diagnosis and procedure coding for each patient discharged by the Hospital following the relevant Australian Coding Standards and relevant State Coding Advice.
  • Provide support to the relevant Manager ensuring data is collected, collated and managed in line with Hospital and relevant legislative requirements.
  • Participate in quality activities, including internal and external clinical coding audits.

Position Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills and Capabilities


Qualifications:

  • Completion of Health Information Management Association of Australia (HIMAA) Clinical Coding Course; Associate Diploma or Bachelor of Applied Science, Medical Record Administration or Health Information Management; or similar relevant tertiary qualification.

Other:

  • Eligible for membership with the HIMAA.
  • Demonstrated current experience in Clinical Coding including a minimum of 1 year fulltime equivalent hours (FTE) coding experience (post training) coding a similar casemix to that of the recruiting facility.
  • Demonstrated ability to code independently with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated interest in clinical coding, highly developed ability to selfmanage and a positive "cando" attitude.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment and independently as required.
  • Commitment to professional development through quality activities, constructive feedback and mentoring.
  • Sound computer literacy and skills within the Microsoft Office Suite.

Desirable:

  • Experience with patient administration software relevant to hospital (e.g. Meditech)
  • Previous Private Hospital experience

Remuneration
The hourly rate range for this position is
$41 to $45 based on previous EBA
