About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Clinical Coder to join our Medical Records Department at the Sydney Adventist Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for timely and accurate coding of inpatient episodes in accordance with Australian Coding Standards and relevant coding authorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in regular coding audits and quality improvement activities
  • Liaise with clinicians and other health professionals to clarify and seek further clinical information for coding query purposes
  • Respond to internal and external departmental requests for information as required
Requirements
  • Completion of Medical Terminology and clinical coding qualification through HIMAA, OTEN or Bachelor of Health Information Management (or equivalent)
  • 1.5 – 2+ years of coding experience
  • Sound knowledge and skills in clinical coding using ICD-10-AM classification system
  • Knowledge and understanding of Australian Coding Standards and DRG assignment
