About the Role:

Reporting to the General Manager Balfours in the capacity of Supply Chain Optimisation Manager, you will be instrumental as the glue between the daily production team and the planning and broader supply chain team. Yours will be a mix between delivering P&L improvements, whilst improving the overall operating cadence with a focus on improved inventory control, increased productivity, reduced waste, and outstanding service to our wide customer base.

This is a leadership role which will be highly autonomous, and work with a broad range of internal stakeholders, peers within the Aus Pie Co group, and external suppliers. This is a newly created role, within a new ownership structure, for an iconic South Australian business that has incredible tenure, legacy and brand connection to its loyal consumer base.

About You:

We are looking for an experienced, passionate and dedicated manufacturing and supply chain expert with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. You will have a demonstrated career within FMCG (across a wide spectrum of manufacturing disciplines) and be on an upward trajectory. You are hungry for more, and looking to further develop a strong base of technical skillsets to further your career ambitions of running a manufacturing site. In order to succeed in this role, you will bring the following:

  • A minimum 10+ years within a food manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated Experience as a leader within a food manufacturing environment and preferable hands on production manager / line manager experience
  • Exposure to the back end planning functions that drive a factory and production environment
  • Intimate understanding of LEAN philosophy and demonstrated experience leading continuous improvement projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to flex, adapt and change gears seamlessly, remaining calm under pressure
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a solution focus mindset – being creative, determined and analytically / fact based in your quest to find the answers.
  • Exposure to CRM programs and intermediate to advanced systems knowledge (to facilitate operational scorecards and metrics) – including proficiency in Excel / Microsoft Project (or similar)
  • Strong people coaching, management and leadership skills – you will help set the standards and be looked to as a leader within the organisation
  • High degree of organisation skills, and able to prioritise work tasks and adapt on the fly to changing priorities.
  • Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in partnership within cross-functional teams
  • Able to work autonomously and set your own agenda and work goals
  • Your will thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Current Drivers Licence.

Key Accountabilities

  • Implement operational metrics and scorecard to drive continuous improvement
  • Managing Key Efficiency Projects through the Factory, and helping to drive a LEAN philosophy
  • Drive the connection between various departments (procurement, inventory management, NPD, maintenance and engineering, production planning, customer service, sales) to facilitate a smooth operational rhythm.
  • Delivering bottom line metrics for the P&L
  • Coaching and line management of direct reports
  • Assist the GM in the execution of key factory projects
  • Help create and deliver the operational strategy
  • Be the key contact point and decision maker on site when the GM is not present
