About the position
As an

Injury & Claims Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to lead and manage Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM) injury and claims management process and complying with Return to Work (RTW) obligations in accordance with the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013. Reporting to the Head of Health & Wellbeing, your role is to promote the vision of health and wellbeing of employees as one of the key priorities for MTM, specifically with regard to injury and claims compliance and engagement with relevant stakeholders and provision of support to ill/injured workers to safely and sustainably stay at work or return to work as soon as appropriate.

The role requires an expert in injury management and workers compensation legislation and entitlements in Victoria.

You will have proven experience managing claims from initial notification to closure and an ability to build relationships and provide support to our site based SHE teams and Senior Management.


About You
To ensure success in this role you will possess:

  • Qualifications in one or more of Occupational Rehabilitation, Personal Injury Management or Allied/Mental Health
  • Demonstrated experience in Workers Compensation management in a similar role
  • Detailed knowledge of current WorkCover legislation;
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of workplacebased Injury & Claims Management programs within a large, complex organisational environment would be an advantage.
  • Strong judgement, communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to remain impartial while influencing and negotiating.
  • Experience building strong relationships to influence key internal stakeholders and motivate employees increasing awareness and engagement
  • Demonstrated high level of written and interpersonal skills including good communication skills with the ability to deal with sensitive and confidential issues where conflict may be present.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, execute and with the ability to solve problems independently
  • Ability to adapt to changing environment
