INJURY MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST | MELBOURNE VIC | PERMANENT, FULL TIME ROLE

The role
The primary purpose of this role is to design, deliver and advise on appropriate, timely and cost-effective injury management strategies to promote early recovery and durable return to life and work for injured workers:

You'll be responsible for

  • Collaborating with claims operations and treatment providers to develop strategies for reducing the human and financial costs to AAL through structured injury management practices, ensuring adherence to relevant legislative requirements.
  • Ensuring appropriate treatment is approved in line with legislative requirement and relevant policies.
  • Conducting regular call coaching each month with aligned Case Managers and provide feedback to support customer service techniques as well as being a point of escalation in instances of complex queries.
  • Developing project plans and initiatives, including costs and benefits, to improve scheme liability management, productivity improvement and injury management competencies and provide regular activity / progress reporting as required.
  • Implementing injury management strategies within the team and business units to ensure the continuous improvement of return to health and work outcomes in compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Providing expert advice and guidance to support team members with managing workrelated injuries and conditions
  • Coordinating activities with key stakeholders including attending Worker Interviews and THP Case Conferences to facilitate the successful management of injured workers with their return to health and work.
  • Building capability by coaching and mentoring teams on injury management methodology to reduce the duration / cost of claims through weekly case conferencing with aligned Case Managers and assist Recovery Support Specialists and Team Managers to provide team support and assistance in medical and injury management.

About you

  • Extensive experience in injury management relating to occupational rehabilitation, claims management and/or return to work
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or industry accreditations
  • Understanding of relevant regulatory and/or legislative compliance requirements that impact the organisation
  • Coaching and mentoring experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of strategy development and able to work with multiple teams to align department strategy with organisational vision
