Be a part of a Local Council as an Accounts Payable Officer, you will be responsible for the timely and accurate processing of all invoices received for payment and to undertake the payment of all creditors.


  • Pay rate: $32.89 per hour + Superannuation
  • 7month contract
  • Based in Dandenong

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Efficiently manage all activities associated with the payment cycle
  • Assist and provide input with the maintenance of Accounts Payable policies and procedures including
- financial systems and operations on a current basis.

  • Administrative tasks relating to Purchase Orders carried out efficiently and effectively
  • Assistance to customers, internal and external, with queries relating to payments and purchase orders
  • Creation of new vendors in the system with correct financial delegation
  • Maintenance of vendor master file accurately
  • Processing of supplier invoices for payment timely and accurately
  • Complete end of period processing in line with monthly/annual timetables.
  • Prepare monthly statistics for Accounts Payable/ Purchase Order function.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Certificate IV in Accounting or related discipline relating to Accounts Payable and Purchase Order processes or alternatively knowledge and skills gained through onthejob training commensurate with the requirements of Accounts Payable and Purchase Order functions within a medium sized organisation.
  • Demonstrated professional and positive attitude in the delivery of excellent customer service, including providing feedback on processes or systems and embracing change,
  • Demonstrated ability to organise workload and tasks and carry out account reconciliations according to predetermined priorities,
  • Demonstrated well developed written and verbal communication skills including awareness of the importance of nonverbal communication,
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and manage difficult customers and know when to refer them to others,
  • Demonstrated conscientious attitude and ability to contribute to all set team goals and achieve all individual goals, tasks and targets within agreed timeframes
