Who are we?Children's Medical Research Institute (CMRI) was Australia's first dedicated paediatric research facility (established in 1958) and is now one of the nation's most highly regarded independent medical research institutes.
CMRI has made great strides with its technology transfer efforts in recent times.With exciting breakthroughs occurring within the research of Pro Can (a $50m public funded project focused on the proteomics of cancer), gene therapy, oncology targets and inherited retinal disease targets, we are now growing and strengthening the Commercialisation team to ensure we capture the social and economic value being created in these world class programs.
CMRI is a partner with universities and hospitals, as members of the Westmead Research Hub, with a joint vision to translate discoveries into cures.
SeeThe Role The Senior IP and Commercialisation Administrator will be a member of a small team responsible for the growth and management of the Institute's IP portfolio through a proactive hands-on approach, encouraging and capturing invention disclosures and forging industry partnerships for commercial exploitation of the IP.
This newly created role will work with the Head of Commercialisation and Head of Legal on a wide range of matters including sponsored research projects, commercialisation of research, intellectual property matters and undertaking due diligence.
The role is suited to an individual with background in paralegal work with relevant experience in contract management and an interest in commercialisation of Life Science opportunities.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Perform paralegal tasks to support administration of the IP portfolio Review and process incoming and outgoing daily correspondence, and update deadlines/data in the IP management system Proactively monitor and manage deadlines for patent Conduct due diligence and background research on potential partners and collaborators Analyse competitive landscapes and technological trendsGeneral Administration:
Maintain the Institute's contract management system (End Point IQ) and the Commercialisation team's customer relationship management system (Salesforce)Support contracts administration by ensuring details are accurate and current, and monitoring agreement obligations with third parties Manage day-to-day administrative activities
- Prepare reports relating to the Institute's IP portfolio and agreements pipeline Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders To succeed you will have...Experience as a paralegal, IP administrator, or equivalent.
Proven contract management experience with an ability to analyse contract data systems, review agreements, and intellectual property arrangements.
Demonstrated ability to produce reports and minutes with attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to build relationships with stakeholders at every level.
Ability to collaborate with others and work independently.
Demonstrated ability to exercise judgement and initiative.
Excellent organisational skills with demonstrated ability to manage and prioritise competing tasks and meet deadlines.
