As an Assessment Officer reporting directly to the Deputy Independent Assessor, you will:

  • Demonstrate critical thinking by reading and analysing complex information to identify key points and issues and proactively identify and fill information gaps.
  • Engage effectively and respectfully with mayors, councillors, council CEO's, council employees and complainants to obtain information in sometimes challenging circumstances.
  • Prepare for and attend case assessment meetings on a daily basis and undertake assessments within set timeframes.
  • Succinctly brief on complaints to the case assessment team.
  • Draft timely and highquality correspondence and ensure that all correspondence is securely stored in accordance with record keeping protocols.
  • Use the case management system to track complaints through the assessment workflow ensuring all deadlines are met. Training will be provided.
  • Build collaborative working relationships internally and externally and strive at all times to represent the OIA in a professional and efficient manner,
  • In a small office environment work flexibly to provide coverage across other duties relevant to the receipt and assessment of complaints.
  • Model professional and ethical behaviour and act in accordance with the Queensland Public Service legislative framework and Code of Conduct.
  • Previous knowledge and or experience of undertaking assessments, administrative law or local government; or the ability to rapidly acquire the same is desirable.

Previous local government experience will be highly regarded.
