We are currently looking for an experienced
Communications Manager (internal) to join us, based on
12M Parental Leave Cover.

About the Role:


Whilst you will be initially based on the North Western Program Alliance on a 12M Parental Leave Cover, once complete, this could lead to other opportunities within John Holland.


Reporting to the GM Stakeholder & Engagement, the Communications Manager role is responsible for leading our internal communications function, as well as reputation-building initiatives for the Alliance.

These contribute directly to the Alliance achieving engaging and authentic communication with our staff, the client and Alliance partners.


Your industry and people management experience will see you successfully manage two direct reports, whilst contributing to the delivery of key projects on behalf of the State Government.


Responsibilities of the role include;:

  • Deliver the Alliance's communications 'Plan on a Page' for 2023, in line with the internal communications and engagement strategy for the Alliance
  • Prepare communications that engage staff across multiple locations, under a hybrid working model, to share timely information, strengthen morale and contribute to a positive working culture
  • Manage and deliver a busy schedule of Alliancewide communications campaigns and events both inperson and via online channels in conjunction with various departments (People & Performance, safety, diversity and inclusion, commercial, innovation, IT)
  • Manage a small team of communications professionals to deliver video and photography contractual requirements to client
  • Write, manage and/or oversee content across a range of different formats including good news stories, industry case studies, intranet content, staff enewsletters, messages from General Managers, award submissions, Workplace and social media posts, internal campaign strategies, video scripts, run sheets and general copywriting.
  • Manage the Alliance's 2023 Awards program and schedule, with the support of contract writers
  • Develop and implement brand building initiatives to present NWPA in the best possible light to our client, other Alliances and the wider industry.
  • Provide strategic advice on best practice communications tools, engagement tactics, channels, language and approach.
  • Work with our project owner and Alliance partners to seek approvals for and coordinate the implementation of content.
  • Work with the Alliance's graphic design team to manage NWPA's visual brand and communication assets (templates, logos), as well as new creative materials
  • Contribute to the Alliance's response to KRA audits and reviews.
  • Maintain productive and collaborative relationships with key internal stakeholders throughout the Alliance.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems and procedures.
  • Assist the General Manager
  • Communications & Stakeholder Engagement with any other duties, as required

To be successful in this role, you will have;:

  • 10+ years' multi-discipline communications experience, e.g. corporate communications, journalism, marketing communications, community engagement
  • Advanced written and verbal English communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and coordinating projects or activities across diverse and multidisciplinary teams
  • Demonstrated people management experience direct reports, mentoring or training program
  • Experience and competency using software and online platforms such as SharePoint, Microsoft Teams Live Events, Campaign Monitor, Microsoft Forms
  • Passion for developing your career with John Holland and be mentored by industry experts
