About the role:


This position is a key role within the Customer, Risk and Governance Directorate and is responsible for systemic improvements in our Care and Clinical Governance with an emphasis on delivering continuous improvement and minimising risk and harm in client care.


This role is focused on providing strategic vision, defined professional and healthcare standards, and robust systems of quality assurance in the areas of clinical practice and care.


In addition, the post holder will provide professional leadership and expert resource to service leaders across Uniting in a shared governance model, working with other directorates on the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of healthcare governance frameworks to deliver service improvements that ensure safe, effective, person centred care.


As the Executive Manager - Nursing and Clinical Governance your role will:

  • Ensure the organisational adherence to care and Clinical Governance Policy and maintain the quality and safety of our residents/clients
  • Implement and monitor the sustainability of Care and Clinical Governance Framework, which include quality and safety reporting analysis and assurance
  • Provide clinical leadership on key areas of clinical safety, governance and learning and development
  • Lead the organisational approach to care and clinical training and development
  • Work collaboratively with other clinical teams to improve the quality and safety of clinical care
  • Influence and affect change at executive, clinical, service development and administrative levels within the organisation
  • Partner with the Risk team in the identification, measurement, and mitigation of organisational risks within the clinical and practice arenas
  • Monitor the effectiveness of a consistent process for the reporting of serious events and incidents
  • Monitor the effectiveness of a consistent methodology and investigation process regarding sentinel events
  • Lead the Uniting-wide approach to incident management, remediation, and resolution
  • Maintain a robust accreditation framework, and track performance against this across all service directorates
  • Adopt a Unitingwide view, recognising the diversity of clients, regulatory frameworks and services delivered in determining optimal processes, policies, and approaches

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Nursing with current AHPRA registration
  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant Health area related discipline

Experience:

  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in work related to the areas of clinical care; medical sector, social services, and/or in relevant policy making agencies
  • Demonstrated senior leadership experience in coordination and management of a clinical risk program
  • Conceptual and innovative problemsolving skills for managing conflicting priorities and developing timely, successful recommendations and advice on policies, strategies, and solutions
  • Extensive practical knowledge of clinical systems and health services, including understanding of human and other factors impacting on patient safety
  • Knowledge and understanding of public health policy issues including evidencebased practice, health care safety and quality, social service evaluation, health and social care funding and resource allocation
  • A minimum of 8 years leading a team with diverse skills and accountabilities
