The Role:

The Flood Strategy Project Officer will support the Senior Flood Strategy Project Manager to administer governance, and deliver strategic flood projects, to support the successful delivery of the Flood Management Strategy - Port Phillip and Westernport


The role leads strategic flood management projects at regional and local levels, in order to keep communities safe and liveable.


A significant part of this role includes project managing and collaborating with a high number of external stakeholders that have a role in building flood resilient communities and minimising flood risks.

External stakeholders include local councils, Emergency Planning Victoria, Victorian Planning Association, Bureau of Meteorology and the State Emergency Service, just to name a few.


Your Skills and Experience:

Further, you have a reputation for being proactive and known for your area of professional expertise. This will be used to inform your decisions as a Flood Strategy Project Officer. Stakeholders will be able to rely on your expertise and therefore you will increase in your ability to influence.


You have excellent time management and prioritisation skills and know when you need to pivot and flex to get the best outcomes for all of Melbourne Water's stakeholders.


It goes without saying you can coordinate and juggle a number of projects at any one time and you utilise project management skills - from project brief to project plan through to execution.

Inherent in your skill set is you know when to raise project risks and concerns and manage the conversations accordingly.

You will be a highly dynamic worker, flexible and agile thinker, and an engaging communicator.

Your highly developed resilience, communication, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills will be utilised as you navigate complexity and manage the expectations, demands and priorities of the role.
