Established in 1871, the Art Gallery of New South Wales is located in Sydney's The Domain adjacent to the Royal Botanic Garden and near the Central Business District, the Gallery acknowledges the original custodians of this land - the Gadigal people of the Eora nation.

The Gallery attracts around 1 million visitors annually and runs Australia's largest education program with over 90,000 student and teacher visits per year.


With our expanded campus recent opening the Gallery has a new state-of-the-art building located next to our existing and much-loved building.

Providing us with close to double the exhibition space, the expanded Gallery enables us to share more art with more people and provide more family, learning and educational programming for all our audiences.

About the role


This is an exciting time to be part of the Gallery with a newly opened campus and more exhibition space to explore.

Join us and help contribute to the Gallery's financial sustainability by managing the Gallery's financial transactions and statements to ensure the achievement of the Gallery's objectives.


The role sits within a close-knit Finance team and works collaboratively within the department and across the wider Gallery and whole of government.

What technical/soft skills you require**- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce or Accounting and CA membership.

  • Superior knowledge and experience of financial accounting processes and practices and statutory compliance, including Australian Accounting Standards, the Government Sector Finance Act 2018, New South Wales Treasurer's Directions and Treasury Circulars.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
