Position Summary

  • Health Protection Lead
at Gippsland Region Public Health Unit
  • Monday to Friday
  • Fulltime or parttime role (no less than 0.8 FTE)
  • Afterhours and weekend On-Call as required
  • Contribute to highperforming team passionate about delivering public health and health protection services

  • Based in Gippsland, Latrobe Regional Health are looking for a Health Protection Leadto join our Gippsland Region Public Health Unit on a parttime/fulltime basis for 24 months.
  • The GRPHU is led and coordinated by Latrobe Regional Health (LRH) is one of nine local public health units across Victoria working closely with the Department of Health in a statewide system of public health delivery and response.
  • GRPHU works throughout the Gippsland region across the public health pillars of prevention, protection and promotion.
  • The Health Protection Lead is responsible for tasks such as:
  • Daily coordination of the notifications and/or outbreaks of notifiable condition and the associated public health functions
  • Ensure the delivery of high quality, responsive and evidencebased end to end services that meet professional, organisational, legal and ethical standards
  • Direct, coordinate and support the Public Health Officers working within the Health Protection Team

  • A tertiary degree in health science, environmental health, nursing, medicine, or related public health field
  • For Nursing/ Allied Health applicants only: Current Registration with AHPRA as a registered health professional, with no practicing restrictions. For nonAHPRA registered professions, eligible membership of the relevant professional association
  • Demonstrated leadership skills to implement change in a complex environment and articulate a vision to engage and unify staff
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
    Selection Criteria
  • Essential: Fully Vaccinated against COVID1
  • Desirable: Authorised Officer (Public Health & Wellbeing Act 2008)
  • Essential: A tertiary degree in public health or related health field.
  • Essential: For Nursing/ Allied Health applicants only: Current Registration with AHPRA as a registered health professional, with no practicing restrictions. For nonAHPRA registered professions, eligible membership of the relevant professional association
  • Desirable: Post graduate qualifications in Infection Prevention and Control and/or Public Health and/or Business Administration or equivalent Management and or Leadership experience
