Based in Gippsland, Latrobe Regional Health are looking for a Public Health Officertojoin our Gippsland Region Public Health Unit on afull-time or part-time basisfor24 months.

The GRPHU is led and coordinated by Latrobe Regional Health (LRH) is one of nine local public health units across Victoria working closely with the Department of Health in a state-wide system of public health delivery and response.

GRPHU works throughout the Gippsland region across the public health pillars of prevention,protectionand promotion.

The Public Health Officerkeyresponsibilitiesinclude tasks such as:
Conductinginterviews with stakeholders, such as cases and clinicians, to collect information about conditions,including theidentification ofat-riskindividuals and exposure pathways

Providing public health advice and education to people at risk of all notifiable communicable diseases and external agencies who provide treatment and care to individual cases.

Consistently applyingcommunicable disease prevention and control policy,protocolsand program guidelines as per existingdocuments.

Providingpublic health management and advice to sensitive settings (for example, residential aged care facilities, early learning centres, disability support services, etc) when in outbreak.

We are looking for candidates with:
A good understanding and knowledge of the principles and practices relating to health prevention and notifiable communicable diseases.
A degree or qualification in public health or a related field
Previousexperience working in the public health field

Ability to interact in an empathetic and non-judgmental manner with culturally diverse populations and persons experiencing a wide range of social conditions.

Strong computer literacy including ability to use Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook) and Microsoft 365 platforms (e.g., Teams).
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
